Okay, for those of you who are totally okay with people experiencing food insecurity during a month that has an national holiday that is pretty much entirely about food because "MY TAXPAYER DOLARS SHOULDN'T BE GOING TO A BUNCH OF LAZY PEOPLE!", here are a few facts: 1. How much you pay PER YEAR to fund SNAP: $36. That's it. Less than one dinner for 2 at a mid-range restaurant. 2. The majority of non-disabled working-age people who are on food assistance DO have jobs; they just don't make enough to cover their food costs. So you're not actually subsidizing THEM, you are subsidizing the companies who don't pay them enough to live on. 3. The majority of people who benefit from SNAP are children, the elderly, and the disabled.

I have made this a couple of times (I used kefir for the sour milk). It is very simple and works really well — I would say success is almost guaranteed. The butter makes it a little bit brioche like. But it works equally well without (added a bit of olive oil instead).
