But please dont share this as a mantra for success. If your success comes at the direct expense of your colleagues because they are doing all the work everyone is supposed to share in, it does not make you ‘successful’ it just makes you a horrible colleague.

I guess it depends on several factors. First, what we understand by function. miRNAs require the same sequence to be present in the cytosol at a certain amount. Endosomal TLR signaling is less sequence-dependent. Second, the conc. might be high next to the releasing cell, then decays (cont…)

As a relatively new field, it’s following this path. With the exception that, depending who you talk to, we might still be in the peak of inflated expectations, the trough of disillusionment or the slope of enlightenment. There are lots of artifacts going on, but probably also important biology
