It’s one of three @millmedia.bsky.social journalists shortlisted, including @abi-whist.bsky.social for her superb investigation into the historian Laurence Westgaph, and Daniel for his amazing nuclear weapons stories.

What a team!

In the end, Pride’s CEO Mark Fletcher was banking on one final bet: bringing EuroPride to Manchester. When that didn’t come off, he offered to resign.

🚨 Very pleased to say that Moya Lothian-McLean has become the first Managing Editor at @millmedia.bsky.social. Along with @cameronbarr.bsky.social, who joined recently as
Investigations Editor, we're building a formidable team of senior editors. And editors are the 🔑!

This passage was interesting. It's brave to write about these kinds of things, and I think @ophiraophira.bsky.social did it really well.

I'm glad this piece is getting such a positive response - on here and in the comments. I think it gets closer to how Mancunian Jews and Muslims live alongside each other than conventional news coverage, which is naturally led by the most newsworthy quotes and moments.

My colleague @ophiraophira.bsky.social got into a makeshift synagogue nearby and witnessed this amazing scene.
October 2, 2025 at 8:20 PM
As our team started fanning out across the area near the synagogue, this strange dimension of the story - the fact so many Orthodox Jews didn’t yet know much about what had happened - came through in interviews.

Reach PLC is cutting jobs again. Having cut 550 in 2020 and 850 in 2023, it’s now panning to make 300 people redundant according to @pressgazette.co.uk.

1,700 jobs gone in five years.

The clickbait strategy is failing badly. Someone needs to buy this company and save its local news brands ASAP.

Hard to disagree with Marty Baron.

During his time at the Post, Cameron oversaw reporting teams that won 13 Pulitzer Prizes and led some of the newsroom’s most ambitious projects, including developing its innovative database tracking fatal police shootings, and a 2022 investigative series on the fentanyl crisis.

"The city room has always been the nerve center of American newspapers, which, in contrast to the leading journals in many European countries, have primarily been local institutions most heavily devoted to the chronicling of local lives and events" - from this wonderful book about the Herald Tribune

Great work by @manchestermill.bsky.social today, who sent a reporter to Abuja, Nigeria to look for a consultant who was pivotal to a £1m deal done by the University of Greater Manchester. There wasn't much there..

And who are the biggest beneficiaries. Marshall would say the public, who haven't been sufficiently informed.

My reporting suggests: a handful of journalists who are now making a lot more money than they expected to.

What's the prize here? “They want to choose the next Tory leader. They want to oversee the Tory-Reform merger,” one person who has met both men tells me. “They want to be the power brokers.”
