The modern world is mystified at the cruelty and despair in the American healthcare system. But it's no mystery — solutions abound, but so does corruption.
Also today a discussion between me and a Danish reporter about how fucked up the American healthcare system is. It goes a lot like this: https://www.welcometohellworld.com/i-surprise-myself-sometimes-by-behaving-in-a-ruinous-and-unsupportive-way/

The hunt for infinite growth to enrich shareholders has done irreparable to not just workers but once beloved companies as well.
I am tiresome on this point: a lot of the businesses that are collapsing these days (including many retail chains and media outlets) can sustain themselves but they can't sustain themselves AND make investors rich
Wish more media companies thought like this.

Hack economists like Larry Summers spent months balking at the idea of #GreedFlation, which is now accepted as truth. But he and his cadre of neo-liberal economists aren’t naive, they’re providing cover for our capitalist overlords.

78% of US debt is held by the public. The main reason we are in a debt crisis is because instead of taxing the ultra wealthy, we instead borrow from them and pay THEM interest. Let’s end this farce and #TaxTheRich

Even before his disastrous campaign announcement, it was obvious DeSantis is a paper tiger: In his last election, he won in a landslide against a Republican who switched to Democrat. The lesson? Stop fielding Republic Lites as Dem candidates, and start investing in progressives.

The GOP’s insistence on “work requirements” for food stamps is a tacit assumption that they don’t belive jobs should pay enough to live on.
