Regular good ol' employed, senior dev. Dutch. Loves most stuff C, Go, PHP, JS / TS. But more into Symfony than Laravel, more into Vue/Svelte than React.
It just feels surprising to me. They are already being played somewhere now right ? As in, in not buying a steam box to play Fortnite on it. Sure there are people who did not get a steamdeck because Fortnite does not work .. but it has not been a problem for the steamdeck, now has it?

I don't get it. It hare a handful games that have this issue right?Is a Battlefield / CoD / Fortnite really enough to say anticheat is a big problem??

ahhh.. When I saw reports on Twitter some time ago 'wow ARC Raiders runs nice, why cannot other devs to that', my first response was 'they probably do not use lumen, nanite and VSM'. Then someone replied that they did, and I was stupid enough to believe them. Stupid me.

to read more closely and pay a bit more intention. My instinct just reads (to) quickly and by instinct downplays some things I read or thinks 'he probably does not mean it that hard'... but maybe he does and I'm naive... I'm thinking and confused today :).

Maybe a little addendum, the people quoted, in the march etc are clearly deranged far right lunatics. Everyone who uses - in some form - words as cleansing , retaliation , etc.. is clearly now right in his/her mind.

But who knows, maybe he really wants to take this time because he wants something out there. As you might notice, it's a hard subject for to form an opinion on.

Yeah that's what I meant with him being attacked. I'm not saying I can feel or know how that's like... But I get the feeling he's now seeing it as his duty to fight back... And I'd rather have he deflects and then continues on normally with his work and projects.

If you then paint a mind picture of the whole country becoming like that, i start to squirm a little bit. And in my mind that is what he was trying to get across. He is coming under fire lately and - IMHO - going a bit far in his defense. But I can't place myself in his shoes so what do I know.

To the rest of the country. It feels like (making numbers up) 80% is not native Dutch there. But then it mean tourists! People visiting for business or tourism, or college, or whatever. And to be clear, they are absolutely welcome there! It just feels different to the rest of the country.

Back to reading it again 😉. Yeah maybe I glossed over that. As non native English speaking it doesn't land directly that he was linking to race statistics. I see that point now. Maybe I compare it directly to how us dutchies don't want to 'visit' Amsterdam per se, because it feels so different

It would be such a nicer world when the people would not come out swinging with the pitchforks he moment to read or hear a different opinion to their own. And that works both ways.

Not because of their opinions, but because they are willing to lie and abuse people to get what they want, and drive home a narrative. If a strong socialist would do that I would be furious as well. DHH has opinions maybe hard to swallow, but that doesn't make him racist.

We have (far) right politicians here as well, who are keen to pounch on any opportunity to say something is caused by immigrants. But they don't by lying and confusing people. And our police has to step in to fact-check them _every time_. That kind of people need to be hunted.

I've read the blogpost and the one he links to from the comedian. Its a conservative standpoint , but not at all hateful, racist or white supremacy or anything. He's against tighter immigration control. He's free to state that. That is not racism at all, not even discrimination.

Yes , as someone who's instinct is just a bit more 'left' compared to his views it are the articles you need to read clean headed. It's the 'other' opinion. But he's staying it well and no hate.

so... as someone who is used to Vue, and likes Nuxt, and loves Astro, and done a bit of React and went 'wtf, people use this?!'... is Tanstack Start and the eco system the answer to like working with React or something React-like?

haha Yes :). But I do recognize a lot, but I know why and how Symfony can't 'go so far'. Because you started from scratch, you can.
