As part of my dad training I sat in a car park eating a sandwich and listening to talk radio, and fuck me sideways some people are way too happy for the opportunity to show the wrold how shit thick they are.

1:34 - I have never seen anyone so upset hearing about someone say they want to talk to asylum seekers. The producer has stitched them right up.
Zack Polanski, "Look how rattled they are about The Green Party because what I'm talking about is something very pragmatic"

"Am I going to be allowed to talk?"

I'm not complaining but 'the guy who says quite racist things now, said really racist things before' story has more legs than I would have thought - because of course he did.

Just like the idea that the President saw one of these and did the pointing wojack meme.

The Cass Review is the worst kind of pseudoscience & has at least 13 peer-reviewed critiques of it (all ignored by mainstream media).

Streeting now wants a Cass Review for Autism, ADHD, etc.

I have characterised these as “contrived authority” strategies (referring to the work of Max Weber)

Considering Streeting's well stated belief autism, ADHD etc, along with mental health issues, are "overdiagnosed", I won't hold my breath for this doing anything other than being used to cut support, along with opportunities for diagnosis, for people who need it. #r4today

One of the people leading this likely farce is Simon Wessley whose previous work includes a reasonably well debunked study of ME which was used to make it harder for sufferers to get support or recognition. Streeting knows exactly what outcome he wants from this

A controversial medical trial part-funded by the Department of Work of Pensions will emerge as “one of the greatest medical scandals of the 21st century” an MP today claimed.

Disappointing that otherwise smart people think trans rights are a debate club topic even as organisations with trans members are being systematically legally pursued to exclude them. This ain't academic!

(Neal is a lecturer, but not someone I've come across before, so just using as an example)
FWIW, I think the WI should be allowed to restrict its membership to women + trans women if it wants (i.e. exclude only cis-men), because I'm generally in favour of freedom of voluntary (dis)association. [1/2]

Seriously, there's never going to be a better time for UK Sensible Centrists to implement their competent utopia, making everything balanced and moderate.

And yet getting all the power they want has only lead to them aiding fascism in every possible way.

It would be interesting to see the legal advice being provided to the WI and Girl Guides (and who is providing it).

The Gender Critical lobby are making massive strides in achieving their (stated!) aim of making participation in public life impossible for trans people.

We're watching the wholesale burning of every scrap of dignity afforded to trans people in the UK, their rights, their medical services, their employment, their place within society, their bodily functions.

It is a disgrace, and a disgusting stain on the government and media of this country.

Setting aside the whys of Guiding and WI doing this and to what extent they're forced, it's now pretty beyond doubt that this is a campaign to deliberately render trans life in the UK impossible.
The article explicitly notes WI had had a trans-inclusive policy *since the 1970s*!
Seems there has been some co-ordination.

Once again, the Supreme Court ruling on the interpretation of women has nothing to do with whether a private organisation can admit trans women or not. The WI can adapt its constitution as it wishes.

Being a fanboy (or fan old man) of the government is weird.

Saying obviously stupid things on the internet, to defend obviously stupid decisions by the gov when you could just quietly practice kiss a basketball with Starmers face drawn on it is stupid...

I particularly like making fun of Starmer fanboys because they can't understand they are fan boys. They think they are sensible impartial sensible folks. Being a frothing fan boy is for Greens or Reform. That they slavishly defend everything the government does is pure coincidence! 😂

I find it deeply sad that people are celebrating that trans girls can’t go to the guides any more. Lots of transphobic remarks and sneering on any article I see. They’re kids FFS. It’s bad enough trans adults are being targeted generally but to target kids and celebrate really is rancid.
