Nearly got hit by a kid driving too fast in our neighborhood. "Sorry" was all he said like that was supposed to make the entire situation disappear.

And this is the problem, because it used to be an apology AND consequences. You still had to face the music. But now there's zero accountability.

Hm, I wonder how that "promised vote" on the standalone bill on this exact issue will go...
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

anyway if dems think I'm gonna forget this shit in 5 months, they're wrong. if they think I'm gonna forget it in 5 years, they're wrong. they have fully convinced me that purging the party of these inept losers in the senate is more important than retaking the senate in the next election cycle

I've seen some dumb shit politically in my lifetime, this caving by the Senate Dems is up there.

The public was pinning the shutdown squarely on Trump! There was momentum!

It's so stupid it's hard to imagine it's not intentional.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

Who the fuck has an FSA that also uses the ACA?
"A development that appeared to break the logjam: Republicans proposed that healthcare funding be provided directly to households rather than used to pay for a 1-year extension of ACA subsidies. That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
Republicans Pitch Alternative to ACA Extension to End Government Shutdown
A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations.

Oh look all usually shitty suspects.
John Fetterman, Angus King, Maggie Hassan, Dick Durbin, Jon Ossoff, Jeanne Shaheen, Kirsten Gillibrand, Catherine Cortez Masto, Mark Warner, Cory Booker, and of course Chuck Schumer. Maybe others not top of mind. Not all responsible will publicly vote for the cave - that's not how this works.

Live look at the Lions offensive line

It is so obvious Dan Campbell is running the offense today, it actually looks like Lions football.

People really have no clue:

Do not understand how many flights there are a day just in the US

Yes, lots of people still travel for business. Zoom is great but doesn’t work for everything

It’s not just the airports, there’s a lot of sky to cover - everything commercial gets routed and controlled

Lady what the fuck do you mean you don’t know what a hard taco shell is?

This route lol - I predict the shutdown will end soon

These are the party leaders I want, right here. This is the energy we need.

Sorry Nancy and Chuck it's way past time.
A busy first day as your Mayor-elect: early morning interviews, transition announcements and meetings. More to say on all of it tomorrow.

But a highlight was lunch with my Congresswoman @aoc.bsky.social at Laliguras Bistro in Jackson Heights.

At this point, anyone—a university, a law firm, a corporation, a Democrat—bending the knee to Trump is doing it because they want to, not because of any political reality.

Your daily reminder that Greg Abbott is simultaneously a human piece of shit, and also has the IQ of a turd.
They’ve all gone mad.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott: “After the polls close tomorrow night, I will impose a 100% tariff on anyone moving to Texas from NYC.”

Embarrassing. This is on everyone but it's very much on the staff IMO. Just sloppy coming off a bye week.

Well that's game. Dan Campbell better be holding some people accountable. Freaking embarrassing showing today.
