CD4: Copenhagen, 1/5. Bob snarls his way through Baby Let Me Follow You Down. Rambling intro to Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues describing “one of the youngest old people”. Ballad of a Thin Man bent thrillingly out of shape. Incredible. Can Like a Rolling Stone possibly match it? Yes. Majestic. 10/10

Nine years ago my son drew this for his homework. Other artists failed to capture Stalin's cheeky grin.

CD3: Melbourne, 20/4. “This used to be called Visions of Johanna. Now it’s called Mother Revisited.” Bob’s voice hoarse, delivery even more cranky than usual but also gentler. Electric set fragment: magnificently deranged. Audience screams at Tom Thumb’s Blues. Bob: You know Tom Thumb?” 8/10

CD2: Sydney, 13/4 electric set. Tell Me Mama opens super-confrontational and set continues in that vein. “It used to go like that, and now it goes like this,” says Bob before I Don’t Believe You - the blueprint for future live performances. Baby Let Me Follow You Down thin-wild-mercury style. 10/10

Getting into Bob Dylan’s 1966 Live Recordings. CD1: Sydney, 13/4 acoustic set. Speaking voice sounds stoned. Some guitar tuning problems but Bob’s singing is phenomenal. Audience hugely enthusiastic. Harmonica playing impressive too. Must have strong lungs. 9/10

I'd just like to belatedly apologise for killing music with all that home taping I did in the 1980s.

#nowplaying Surprising how similar it is in some ways to Postcard. Not such a radical departure as I’d thought.

#nowplaying Excellent songs including by Donovan (Lord of the Reedy River alone worth the price of admission), Harry Nilsson and George Martin and produced by P McCartney. Some of Paul’s granny music but also weird folk, exquisite arrangements and singing. Purchased from a charity shop last week.
