Van Morrison was the worst for disappointment, but in terms of mediocrity, there was a band called Elf that opened for Blue Oyster Cult, and they tried to make up for a lack of talent by sheer volume (the amp was definitely turned up to 11). Stuffed paper towels in our ears to try to muffle them.

Two of the best I've been to were Springsteen (they played for over three hours and acted like there was no place else in the world they wanted to be than there, playing for you) and Peter Gabriel. The worst was Van Morrison. He phoned it in that night.
