Whatever you think your limitations are, you’re probably wrong. Parenting shows you reserves of strength, grace, and patience you didn’t know you had.

However, there's a subtle distinction:
- the software version signifies what the software maker wants you to do
- the real world version signifies what others in your situation have done

Lots of latent fears prevent people from being specific:
- of loneliness
- of rejection
- of failure
Counterintuitively the opposite is true.
Specificity makes connection, acceptance, and success more likely.

Look how the shelves are arranged. Covers out!
Yeah yeah, it would more efficient to arrange them spine out, but look at them!
I bet so many more people grab them of the shelves

It’s misshaped for some reason (italicized???), compared to the Texas flag which it’s probably referencing.
It’s not like they did it to align with the styling of the H. There’s a curve at the bottom of the point on the H which screws up the kerning between the H and ⭐️.

the reasons both sides of the smiling curve take all the value is because of the different ways they exploit the leverage the internet gives them

the idea of the smiling curve was first articulated by one of the founders of Acer, Stan Shih to describe how two sides of value chain in PCs (creation and marketing) had all the leverage (and would reap all the profits) vs. the middle (manufacturing) which would get squeezed

it can make a little more sense in graph form:
the x-axis roughly means size or cost structure or position in the value chain
the y-axis roughly means value captured, profit made, or simple "leverage"
it's called the smiling curve, for obvious reasons
😁

I'm more interested in leverage in the sense that Archimedes (supposedly) used it:
"Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world."
