Bretton Sciaroni provided some legal advice to NSC staff during Iran-Contra. (His advice concerned the legality of U.S. aid to Nicaraguan Contras, not the legality of the diverting to that endeavor the proceeds from selling arms to Iran--this obit has that wrong.)

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

* …from any investig’n of former client Reid Hoffman
* made a little, silly political noise on TV to buy time to think & manage actual law enforcement?
* won’t seek nonsense/illegal charges?
* thus will in time be fired?
* which could happen soon(er), if he gets an order to act illegally & refuses.

"Destroy[ing]" people has, especially in the context of recalling 20th century German Nazis, awful connotations. I take it that you mean that we must expose and defeat them, with speech and press, and politically, and with, when they have committed crimes, fair criminal law enforcement. Amen.
