I was mentally and physically abused as a child, pre-teen, and teenager by: peers, nearly every single fucking family member, teachers and school administrators.

I developed a seizure disorder.

I am profoundly mentally unwell into my middle age.

And omg, I can't recommend Brett James Salon highly enough. That hot bear made me look TRADE. He has since moved from Liberty Avenue to around the corner on 6th St downtown.

412 Apotheca on Federal St in the Northside is a fun apothecary that stocks amazing handmade cosmetics. And the owner is a cute bear that im too shy to flirt with.

Phantom of the Attic (the Oakland location on South Scraig St) isn't queer owned, but they stocked queer comic titles when no one else would twenty years ago, so they get a solidly earned ally status.

Eon's Fashion on Ellsworth Ave in Shadyside is a cornerstone of the community. Every year the owner unfurls a huge pride flag and a pride ceremony happens in front of 5801 Saloon. Its a magical store, owned by an old school 🧚‍♂️

And just on the other end of the block from Two Frays is Workshop, the Garfield location of the queer owned and operated handicrafts shop. They sell the wares, and will teach you how to make them at their Wilkinsburg production studio on Pennwood Ave.

Two Frays Brewery on Penn Ave in Garfield has an amazing queer lady as their head brewer now and HOLY MOLY. I thought their beer couldn't get better. I thought there couldn't possibly be room for improvement, but she found it. Just 😋

Boheme Boutique on Butler St in Upper Lawrenceville might not be queer owned, but they highlight the handiwork of MANY local queer artisans.

And just up the road is GreenSinner, a gay owned florist who do amazing arrangements for special events.

The White Whale Bookstore, not queer owned, but queer run, is awesome.

As is The Big Idea Anarchist Bookstore (collectively run, with transfems and queers at the heart of the collective effort).

Arts and Crafts Botannica and Occult, formerly Penn Ave in Garfield, now reopened for Yuke gifts and card readings by a rad queer woman in the Trenton Ave business district of Wilkinsburg.
