Free software scares normal people aka "keep it simple".

Our office in Momentum is finally coming together. Still a couple finishing touches but I love walking in to this every day.

Friends.. its that time of the year again. Friends don't let friends forget about DST. Also, TIL.

PRs created/merged across 4 repos, config changes to 3 apps, revived one getting hammered by an email, deployed a handful of times and were not even to 11am yet folks...

Tiny little feature I love in flipper cloud: daily activity emails. Easy to follow what others are doing like new flags and changes.

It's opt-in on your profile. I've been using it for a while and just enabled the flag for everyone.

Friday we had Karl Peterson (hotwire.com founder) at momentumsb.com/. Favorite thoughts...

* Hire fewer better more expensive people.
* How are you going to differentiate yourself.

Small improvement for Fireside. You can now import chapters from text. Easy copy/paste from whatever you use to generate your chapters.

Friends don't let friends waste milliseconds. Another endpoint enfastenated.

We're shipping a brand new renderer at box out hosted on @railway. Seeing the old AWS one go to zero requests is HUGE. This is step 1 and should save us $1k/mo. Step 2 is motion graphics which will save $3-4k/mo in GPU servers. Huge team effort moving ~1k templates in 2 two days.

I’ve worked on apps doing millions of rails request per minute and never intentionally used foreign keys.

I’m like a kid sleeping in their new shoes. Except I’m hacking from the porch of our new camper. Just parked at my house but this’ll do.

I'm not one to regularly post about watches on here but this is too cool. The MB&F M.A.D. 2 arrived while I was camping out west and I picked it up the first night when I got home. I've had it on for 4 days straight. It wears amazing and is quite the looker.

Finally home from summer camping and got to work at momentum (entrepreneurship hub I’m an owner in) for the first time yesterday. Love the vibe. Best coffee in town.

Ended up chopping 75% off our ci time from 16-20 minutes down to 4 using parallel_tests and heroku ci multi dyno formation (2 for now). Now it’s time for brats!

Just slayed the API endpoint performance for flipper cloud. Added memcached around the adapter used to deliver gate data.

Should save me $2-3k/month.

Control.set :telemetry_request_purge_job_wait, 1

Moved from deleting 500 rows every 2 seconds to every second. Easy to see on the uptick on @PlanetScale graphs.

Controlling things at runtime is the way.

Continuously purge data from mysql via good job in a safe way. Controlled by feature flag and runtime controls for how many records to delete in a batch and how long to wait to run the job again (to control replication lag).

Easy to turn off, slow down or speed up at runtime!

My camper's outdoor kitchen is the perfect standing height desk.

Anthropic is a real one for this. Check out their console message if you are bored. I'm sure they copied someone else but this is a brilliant idea.

Morning hacking in hocking hills. Love the nature sounds. The birds go nuts whenever a test fails.
