I quite enjoy PKD’s work but I occasionally forget how much his whole “Exegesis” bursts through the wall like an Ichthys clad, Kool-Aid man.
It is particularly grating in Maze of Death where he feels compelled to toss around the concept of a Kibbutz and various Yidish-isms in the opening pages.

Some of the most grinding, daily antisemitism I experienced growing up in the Midwest was lead by a fellow Jewish kid that I now see as trying to create a space between himself and the other Jewish kids at school in the eyes of our peers

The sad thing about this is that the ugly holiday sweater thing is like a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy of something genuinely tremendous: Scandinavian knitwear.
I didn’t have egg nog til I was in my 20s. Didn’t know that ugly Christmas sweaters were a thing. Had never heard of a debate between white lights or colored lights. These were as foreign to me as eating a pork chop, another thing no one I knew did (we all ate bacon though 🤷🏻♀️).

Welp, my local library had a copy of Robert Eggers's extended cut of NOSFERATU on DVD, so against my better judgement I am giving it a re-watch. I *despised* this movie when I saw it in the theater last year, but let it never be said that I am a man unwilling to reevaluate his opinions.
