There’s some subset of Facebook/Insta users who engage with AI slop and maybe don’t care, but I suspect many people do not want to be inundated with all that slop on the regular.

Must be doing work in there because over the weekend they weren’t blocking the lane there but were a few doors south. And closer to the corner there was a whole mini fan parked on the sidewalk. 🙄

I would say in Apple land they’re just not worth using anyway, but the update size (I assume because they’re now packing in all their models) feels much bigger than previous years. My 128gb 15 didn’t have enough room for an upgrade which hasn’t been an issue for years. 🙄

I picked the first review I found for this thing and they mentioned the build quality isn’t great and that on their attempt to make chicken thighs using the gen AI recipe the internal temp didn’t even hit the target. Seems, not great?

But also the idea that AI is being used like this when there are very real stories is making me really sad right now. 😞

Yes! There’s a few styles that seem to make the rounds, but wanted to add that it also seems to land on the same creepy AI ‘fonts’. If the prompt specifically asks for text, it always feels off in that way.

A friend posted some generic touchy feely story and 1. Plenty of real life examples that could be shared instead of this vague story, but 2. because the vibes were already off, I looked closer at the accompanying image and some of the text was clearly garbled indicating AI slop.

Was going to go with the brother but scanning was a nice feature and got a Canon instead. It’s been decent and the fact that some of its software feels like it’s just pared down enterprise stuff, usually means you can tweak all sorts of stuff if you’re insane like me. Otherwise it mostly just works!

I actually had a lot of fun fully assembling the kit AND it saved me a few bucks then. But yeah, back then it felt like options were Prusa or ‘something cheaper but you need to rewire/upgrade it so it doesn’t burn your house down’. 😬

They have a $500ish mini but there’s also a bunch of other great make/models now vs when I bought.
