There's no reason why police departments of blue communities should be working for the fascists. Democratic mayors and city councils need to take control of their police. Police departments being more harsh with liberal protestors than they were with conservative ones should not be tolerated 🧵

Times like this call for working and middle class solidarity.

Everyone who depends on getting paid to stay fed and housed is in this together.

I almost forgot to mention it because I crammed it in the middle of a busy day, but I went to another protest Saturday. This time on the bridge between Lewiston and Auburn.

It felt good to see so many drivers giving us things up and honking for us. Only a few middle fingers.

I went to the hands off Maine protest today in Augusta. 5 times more people than the city thought were gonna be there showed up (600 vs 3k). They had to close more of the road in a hurry to accommodate all of us. Lots of people driving by cheered, honked, etc... it felt good.

The Trump Zelinsky meeting has me thinking about Babylon 5

"As the war expanded, it became our last, best hope for victory. Because sometimes peace is another word for surrender, and because secrets have a way of getting out"

I noticed something interesting at my local grocery store this morning. The price of pasture raised eggs (hens have a minimum of 108 sqft/bird) hasn't really gone up, but the price of "regular" eggs is going up. Regular eggs were $7.99, but pasture raised was $7.49.🧵

My town, and my fire department in the news.

You can count me among the disappointed they were allowed to plea to a misdemeanor and keep their firearms business.

I've been a user of/advocate for Signal for several years.

It looks like the oligarchs don't want you to use it, and I can't think of a better reason why you should sign up and move your messages to Signal
X is blocking links to Signal
User handles can still be posted as a workaround.

Screw you Elon

…But now it’s out in the open, using marketed language like Blue Lives Matter, CRT, and anti-DEI.

It still translates to same message of hatred of black & brown people, natives, Asians, and immigrants.

It's difficult to overstate the negative impact Trump will have on science and technology development in the US. Trump taking office will probably be the end of the US sitting on the top rung of the research ladder
I spoke to a talented junior scientist who just got a good faculty job offer in the US and they told me “well I wouldn’t move to 1930s Germany either” so that’s how that’s going

Conservatives think that their right to not have to learn anything that wasn't accepted as true 50 years ago is more important than the right of anyone else to life the life they wish to live.

They truly do not understand what freedom is.

Every year I'm low grade stressed out until my taxes are done.

Our tax system sucks.

Fix it. Ignore the tax prep lobby and do what's right for the citizens.
