Lights in the Sky is a killer indie book from @winstongambro.bsky.social that's essentially Coast to Coast AM meets Misery, and it's DAMN good. Gambro's art shines, casting moody stippled light on his conspiracy theory laden story. You can pick it up digitally on Gambro's Patreon!

A killer cathartic finale to the first arc of Batman: Dark Patterns, from @danpgwatters.bsky.social, @cleanlined.bsky.social, @treecolour.bsky.social, Frank Cvetkovic, @garbagedracula.bsky.social, and @roblevin.bsky.social!

A smaller-scoped Batman story that gives a big middle finger to ACE Chem 🖕

It doesn't hurt that Ian Bertram did this BANGER of a cover for #5

Who knew? @nickdragotta.bsky.social can draw the HELL out of some comics

Absolute Batman #5

The Ultimates from @denizcamp.bsky.social continues to be the best thing Marvel’s putting out. Such fun and refreshing takes on existing characters, all building towards a final climax – I’ll be there for every issue!

The Ultimates #9

As a relative newcomer to comics, the thing that WOWs me the most about @kellythompson.bsky.social’s Birds of Prey run is just how DAMN lovable the entire team is

New arc starts this week at #18 with Juan Cabal on art, Adriano Cabal on colors, and @claytoncowles.bsky.social on letters!

Didn't realize how much I needed Stan Sakai drawn #TMNT til now

Started reading Waid & Samnee’s Black Widow run last night. Talk about an explosive first issue 🔥💣

If you’re only going to read one bloody train-based Issue #1 this week (weird that you actually have options this week?), make it Kill Train from Olivia Cuartero-Briggs, @martina-n-art.bsky.social, Simone D’Angelo, and @beccasee.bsky.social

First WhatNot haul! Some great stuff in here, even if I did buy the entirety of Captain Canuck as a bit 😬

A little under halfway through Zdarsky's Batman run and I've been positively bamboozled at how good @jorgejimenezart.bsky.social is. I hadn't read any of his work prior to this and have been LOVING it throughout this. Tomeu Morey colors and lights his pages perfectly - some neon moodiness ooh-la-la

Finally started reading Zdaraky and @jorgejimenezart.bsky.social’s Batman run - nothing could’ve prepared me for Nightwing looking like THAT 🥵🥵🥵

DC is FEEDING us with two books from @tomking.bsky.social this week - Wonder Woman’s arc remains a monthly exercise in catharsis while Black Canary: Best of the Best keeps peeling back layers, interspliced amidst the framing of a no-holds-barred title fight 😵🥊

If you’re not reading Prairie Gods from @shaneconneryvolk.bsky.social, you’re missing out on one of the best anthology series and one of my favorite new comics from last year

Dan Mora’s Swamp Thing from this week’s Justice League Unlimited is a monstrous thing of beauty

It’s cape-adjacent, but have you read The Human Target from Tom King and Greg Smallwood? I’ve only been reading comics for a few months but it’s still my favorite series.

For more recent stuff, here’s my Top 20 from 2024! Dawnrunner is a KILLER standalone series w/ breathtaking art from Evan Cagle

Absolute Wonder Woman #4 from @kellythompson.bsky.social and @cleanlined.bsky.social continues to be one of my favorite books coming out right now. Draped in hope, love, and unbelievably badass moments

I stayed up later than intended last night reading through The Vision from @tomking.bsky.social. It’s phenomenal throughout but SHEESH, that last issue devastated me. A truly perfect way to end things. Extra praise for Hernandez Walta + Bellaire’s hauntingly mundane portrayal of the extraordinary.
