That's not what any of them are about, because that's not what Trump is about. Not one of them has a clue about public service or patriotism or the common good.

It may be true, but it's not really to our credit, is it. Is there anyone on or near the scene who fills the bill?

The danger is obviously very great, but Americans have some important advantages over the Germans of the 1930s.
—We have a long tradition of democracy.
—We have a long tradition of dissent and civil disobedience.
—Last but not least, we have a long tradition of prosperity and the desire for it.

And they know that
November 24, 2025 at 3:54 PM
Why did X do this?
November 23, 2025 at 5:34 PM
It means that, yes. The same or similar.

I'd like to know if the fabrications you describe are general, across subjects, or if they are allowed or encouraged for a specific list of persons and topics thought to merit poor treatment. What if you ask Grok that question?

I am awake. My point is that no one should be fooled by this statement from "the White House." It means less than nothing.
November 21, 2025 at 12:31 AM
If he didn't mean it, let's hear him say that (convincingly). It's not enough for "the White House" to say it, because MAGA will think he's being forced to say it in order to get out of trouble but is still sincere about the original threat. Without something way clearer, the message will stay sent.
November 20, 2025 at 10:10 PM
I'm sure he's deeply embarrassed, but somehow that doesn't sound very contrite.
November 18, 2025 at 4:53 AM
More than ridiculous. I am not amused, or embarrassed. I know you are as appalled and terrified as I am. Unless we get rid of Trump and immediately do our very best to cleanse ourselves of this terrible stain, it will stay with us.
November 15, 2025 at 11:12 PM
But they're stuck with him, or will go down with him, because it's all happened so fast that they can't abandon him without looking pretty terrible. On a longer timescale it might be interpretable as another business decision. This way it's just craven.
November 15, 2025 at 11:06 PM
There are better uses for it than that.
November 15, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Right. So good test. When the shutdown ends, as it will eventually do, will "growth" start to improve?
November 7, 2025 at 2:14 PM
And RFK Jr. scramming would be what, the Republican Congress?
November 6, 2025 at 6:24 PM
But Republicans know they'll have to rethink their future. If every county in Virginia, for example, moved sharply leftward, congressional Republicans must feel in their bones that their political lives are in danger.

This is the kind of font used in magazine ads for jewelry or crystal or junk "art" (the copy is often something about "prestige " or "luxury" or a "collection").
November 5, 2025 at 11:01 PM
Suddenly there's talk everywhere about the end of "this nightmare." But why? What has changed?
November 3, 2025 at 4:31 PM
I do understand it that way, but we've heard so often that Trump wants to be loved. Has he given up on that?
October 29, 2025 at 10:10 PM
They know he knows he's lying, but they don't care too much about this kind of lie. It's a different thing when he lies about prices, for example, as he's begun to do--when he denies the evidence of people's own eyes that he is hurting them. That's when he's hurting himself.
October 29, 2025 at 10:45 AM
Trump is not only off his game, but getting further and further off it.
October 28, 2025 at 6:54 PM
It's going down anyway. Without serious writers it's not a serious publication.
October 28, 2025 at 1:00 PM
Yes, and let's have more of this from other states.
October 27, 2025 at 10:19 PM
Looks to me like he's made his peace with it.
October 27, 2025 at 12:52 PM
I don't get it. Of course it is.
