Software developer in the Canadian Prairies #yxe. He/him
I know I’m late to the party, but holy shit is iOS26 awful.

I like the UI changes, the Liquid Glass is neat. But holy smokes they broke everything else somehow. So many little glitches and bugs that it seriously makes me want to switch back to Android.

There are so many software devs quote posting this that are like “no actually AI code is dog shit” and I’m honestly curious how they’re using AI, if at all?

I’ve adopted it into my workflow and it’s far from perfect, but it’s not awful either? It’s better than a lot of humans I’ve worked with.
I think that may be the core division here: if you are an author or an artist the cons of generative AI very likely outweigh the pros for you

If you are a software developer the opposite is true

I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

The overconfidence of some people is amazing.

Bricks? Been around for hundreds if not thousands of years. We got that on lock, probably not a lot of room for improvement.

Random guy thinks about the problem over the weekend and assumes he can fart out a better design and BUILD HIS HOUSE WITH IT?
Right now on reddit there's a guy inventing a new kind of brick to build his home with and it's going about as well as you can imagine

@graze.social you should built a custom feed to find custom feeds. Just a feed of people posting about the hot feeds. I don’t know, it’s getting pretty crazy out there.

“Always believe something wonderful is about to happen.”

I’m going to try and let that quote stick in my head for as long as possible. It’s damn good advice.
Colleen Jones asked me to interview her a couple of months ago during a chemotherapy appointment.

She told me to write one heck of a story. I hope I did her proud.

About always believing something wonderful is about to happen.

This appears to a skill issue:

- Keep your tires straight
- Never let the tires spin.
- Get the vehicle rocking back and forth

Having said that, I’m willing to bet that the computer controlled throttle makes it really hard to not spin the tires.

Cybertrucks still suck though.

What is it called when you order pizza for everyone and no one asks for cheese pizza but you order one anyway and then it’s the first one gone? There’s got to be a psychological term for it.

“Regulations need to catch up”.

lol, we have the technology but people have antiquated right like being able to see the sun that get in the way.
Everybody go read "Termination Shock" by Neal Stephenson, because apparently that whole scenario is actually about to start happening: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/11/21/stardust-geoengineering-janos-pasztor-regulations-00646414

Bored at work, started reading “Java for Dummies” because I always wondered how programs worked (big “while loop” was the answer I was looking for btw).

Quit my job soon after, went back to University. 4 years later I was writing bugs at an engineering firm. Been writing bugs ever since.

They’re selling Furbies again, I saw a glimpse in an ad.

They must have a hibernation cycle like Pennywise in IT, or the stretchy liver eating gentleman in X-Files. Terrifying creatures back from the void to scar a new generation. Watch out.

Copilot has been working on this problem for a while. It can continue to iterate, or you can send a new message to refine your prompt.

Are you sure? Copilot is tired. Copilot has a family.

Lots of people are shitting on AI (and rightfully so, it’s problematic in a lot of ways) but oh my god it’s helping me get so much stuff done.

I like having a little guy I can delegate all my boring tasks too and if they start to talk back I just delete them and start over.

OMG the amount they use the notwithstanding clause is insane. They’re not even pretending they’re using it for its intended purpose. Unreal
I've said it before and I'll say it again: normal adults (who aren't pediatric medical professionals) don't spend ANY amount of time thinking about the genitals of children.

They certainly don't bend over backwards to make policing children's genitals part of their job.

This obsession is creepy.
