The best part of that story is the Mr. Vester's demo party in Newark, NJ and the people hanging out drinking beer while waiting for him to arise from his invention.

I looked at the photo before I read the story and my god I just want a world where tamale vendors can provide that deliciousness to everyone without ever fearing being deported.

To be fair to you, he's pre-Garfield and I don't know if they ran Heathcliff comics internationally. They're still being made, and the family who creates them are localish to me. I know people who know them.
