Beautiful 🍁 autumn colors on Miyajima yesterday - isn't the Japanese maple tree lovely this time of year?
Glad I took this photo yesterday as heavy rain today may bring it all down too soon

Developing slow-travel sustainable tourism with inbound appeal in Hiroshima's Takehara bamboo, salt & sake town & love the creativity I often find here - the bamboo coffee filter idea is genius ❤️ ☕

Sharing imperfect idea for today - boats need filters to get some of the microplastics & forever chemicals out of the waterways as they go!
It seems ideal for ferries like this Miyajima ferry (it would also be better if these ferries were electric so they weren't putting diesel in the water)

Love all the beautiful kinmokusei around the house & bringing some of the blossom & fragrance beauty inside as well 🧡 #kinmokusei #fragrantolive
So inspired to appreciate little beautiful touches of living in a traditional house after spending time with Alex Kerr

Learning all about Kagawa lacquer arts today with the fabulous Japanologist Alex Kerr as our guide
Head of the lacquer art school had a first edition of Alex's first book, the Japanese prequel of LOST JAPAN for him to sign - wonderful to see how his ideas resonate for both Japanese & English readers

I'll be with Alex Kerr in a few days and look forward to learning what it would take to do the thatch roof and bring back its traditional glory - the owner had given up hope of ever seeing it with thatch again but Alex & his Chiiori Alliance group are experts. Had a few inquiries already ❤️

Anyone want a 600 year old Shinto priests house in rural Hiroshima just an hour drive from the city?
Went out to see it for myself today - so much space & views in a stunning valley location & so much potential to breathe life back into this home & gardens 💓
Owner says he'd be happy with any offer

Giant Torii gate & ferry classic Miyajima - but the 50 person ferry boats of 50 years ago would be nice to see too - is 6,000,000 visitors a year sustainable with only 1,300 local residents? 🤔 #tourism #japan

Beautiful ❤️ weather on Miyajima today - no autumn 🍁 colors yet
