I’m pretty sure I pay the top marginal rate, & may I just say: bollocks to this.

I know they made a (dumb & unnecessary) manifesto promise not to raise taxes. Keeping the promise the only decent reason I can think of against raising the top rate. Is that enough? Not for me.

I don’t see why we’re making a big deal about this.

It’s not like he was a trans woman.
Drunk border patrol agent was in a womens restroom with a loaded gun + one in the chamber
then wandering the parking lot of a restaurant with his gun out then resisted police and threw the fucking thing *loaded*
The police tried to deny giving any of this info but this indie newsroom prevailed!
A Border Patrol agent accused of drunkenly fighting with Long Beach police overdosed weeks after his arrest, according to his lawyer. New body-camera footage shows what he told the cops who'd wrestled him into custody: lbpost.com/news/isaiah-hodgson-drunk-border-patrol-arrest-long-beach-overdose/

TIL the best part 10% of all the human beings in the United States at any given moment are “illegal immigrants”

If there are that many, you’d think some of them would, just by chance, be involved in building houses, including houses that American citizens live in.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Even “barely legal” is reprehensible. If we step back for a second, put Epstein & Trump out of our minds, & ask what we think about a man in his 30s, 40s, or 50s who targets 16- 18-year-olds or whatever the state’s age of consent is, EVERYBODY would agree such a man shouldn’t be president.

Middle-aged men systematically having sex—even ostensibly consensual—with teenagers—even of “barely legal” age—is bad.

And being in the inner circle of a man infamous for that behavior—even if we assume against the evidence that Trump didn’t partake—would be disqualifying for any political office.

Any reporter: “What passage in the Bible are you referring to?”

Please. Just ask the obvious questions. We’re not asking for brilliance.
Trump: The bible tells us that one of the measures of any society is how it cares for vulnerable children and orphans—so important and so big in the bible.

Today isn’t, either.

As for tomorrow….

You know what? Lemme get back to you. Until you hear otherwise, just assume this applies every day.
Some days, I feel like resisting the oft-expressed sentiment that men suck.

Today is not one of those days.

“This will be very very bad. You want to see the U.S. go dark? You don’t like electric cars and technology? Do you want to go back to the jungle?”

when I've talked about the concept of "vice signaling," that's a key part. the idea that everyone is secretly racist/a rapist/evil, and pretending otherwise is just a mask.
Gonna be something to behold as we realize like 40% of the country thinks 50 year old men raping 15 year olds is actually nbd and “something most men want even if they don’t say it”

That the Civil Rights Division is intervening against California & is also supporting Louisiana’s Supreme Court bid to disenfranchise Black voters through redistricting is a moral outrage.

The English system of local government is quite arcane. Some of it, I think, is inspired by the opening scenes of “Monty Python’s Holy Grail,” while internal council politics are heavily influenced by “Life of Brian.”
I thought we were into 'Mayors for All' now, although I'd much rather have an owl tbh

In 1860, the party divided, with the Northern Democrats & the Southern Democrats each running a candidate for president.

In 2025, the party is dividing along different lines: the Senate Democrats, pusillanimous & incapable of unified action; & the House Democrats, going to war.
Can we just take a moment and appreciate how House Democrats took a flame thrower to the NY Times too?
