not a Sox fan but it was cool to see them win and make the playoffs last night. @jtkantor.bsky.social playing “Gold Soundz” was also cool.

why would I guess “donut” after confirming the first two letters are “BL”, you chaotic and likely AI-augmented Wordle bot

search engines have entered the “self checkout” era apparently. what are we doing here folks

Charles does not care about the start of the fall semester or how busy today has been, he just wants some damn dinner

The 2025 EDUCAUSE Horizon Report flagged "Critical Digital Literacy" as "relevant for all higher ed stakeholders and contexts." I try to draw a lot on the positive experiences and models I have seen from historians of technology in my instructional design work. library.educause.edu/resources/20...

is it like a thought experiment from Descartes or is it like when Wile E Coyote paints a tunnel on a wall and then convinces himself it’s a real tunnel

I am particularly grateful for the project documentation of the role AI played in search functionality and the creation of relevant data. And I love the inclusion of an environmental impact disclosure; should be a model for AI usage on similar projects! digitaldocumerica.org?r=about#sear...

Went to The Coolidge today to see The Phoenician Scheme (fun movie!) and was pleasantly surprised to find some zines for sale at the ticket counter. Very cool, @alexxkittle.bsky.social!

Enjoyed the Van Gogh exhibition at the MFA. Nice focus on the social and cultural and spatial contexts informing the work. The motion sensor audio stuff was a bit odd but I could appreciate the accessibility perspective there if that was a motivating factor. Need to revisit on a quieter day.

For example, they look forward to a "positive AI-infused world" but leave it "up to us" to make that a reality. And noting that "Governments and corporations are trying to create effective regulations and guidelines to govern AI" and "have much more work to do" is quite the understatement

I was curious about the report's section on "the growing demand for tech skills." It cites a World Economic Forum report that received "1,043 unique responses" across the globe. Not sure how representative that data sample might be, to be honest: reports.weforum.org/docs/WEF_Fut...

Reading AAC&U's latest Student Guide to AI and early in the doc they are encouraging students to use free versions of AI tools beyond what is offered by their institutions which seems extremely unhelpful for a bunch of reasons: studentguidetoai.org

I went digging around the Anthropic website and I could only find one brief reference to "environmental benefits" in its "Transparency Hub." Maybe I am missing something though! www.anthropic.com/transparency...

I’ve been getting very into Álvaro Enrigue (translated by Natasha Wimmer) this year. You Dreamed of Empires is one of the best books I’ve read in a while.

the word "just" is doing a lot in this section to be honest (this is more a critique of the Chronicle framing here). "Just" 69% of schools having policies? 44% of schools having AI classes? "Just one-fifth offer majors and minors in AI"? that seems like a pretty fast adoption rate (almost too fast!)

The authors of this survey default to "higher ed must move at the pace of AI companies," which is disappointing. If we are truly going to assess AI's impact on higher ed, maybe we should take our time here.

Weirdly never came across the Walter Street Burial Ground in the Arnold Arboretum until today. Nice to come across a sign with a QR code explaining what the deal is here! expeditions.stqry.app/en/story/171...
