The Simpsons did one of the all-time best readings of The Raven. I am prepared to die on this hill.

Another day, another inbox filled with scam emails. I had to share this one. I think I look pretty good for a guy who died in 1916.

Off to Jersey I go. Notebook and pen at my side as always, of course. A change of scene is always good for inspiration #writersofbluesky

I'm not saying that Tennis is boring. I just think they could spice it up with a random insanity round where the ball is substituted with a live grenade.

Do you know how many words I've written today? 0. Same as yesterday, and the day before. The same as I have for a while. And that's okay. Sometimes life has other priorities. And you can't write if you don't live. Don't pressure yourself by comparing others' word counts. #writing #writersofbluesky

I've got help from my furry editors. Although, I don't think 'help' is the right term 😝.

You know what's sucked the last few years? How many things from my childhood have been celebrating their 40th anniversary 🫤!

Today, I learned that Stephen King wrote a children's book called Charlie the Choo-Choo. It's as horrifying as you'd expect. So, of course, now I need to buy a copy.

Two severs, both alike in dignity,
In fair AWS, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil packets makes civil connections unclean.

I know Star Trek: The Animated Series gets a lot of hate, but I have a soft spot for it. Yes, the animation is awful, but the stories are actually decent. In some cases, excellent. #startrek

A step in the right direction in the ongoing battle for the rights of writers and artists. A big thank you to @societyofauthors.bsky.social for representing us.

Today in The House Of Lords, the amendment tabled by Baroness Kidron was passed with 287 votes in favour against 118 votes opposed.

It would compel AI companies to make their models transparent so creators could see for themselves if their works had been used to train AI models.

Today has not started well. You can only perform so many miracles on old hardware, especially when that hardware is in the belly of an even older machine.

So, at what point did you realise that your main character has ceased to be a concept in your head, and has evolved into a living, breathing person that you often bring up in conversation?

What characters last words have stuck with you since first hearing them?
Mine are from a kids show that had some incredible writing:
"Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly, the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest...is silence..."

#MayWeDance Day 5

Quick and my MC starts it.

Thalia flirts with Zinnian right away, but gives up when he's uninterested. It kindles when he's a ghost.

Alderius was a one 'knight' stand gone wrong. Thalia was only trying to comfort a man cursed to die. Whoops!

How quickly or slowly do the MC and their LI in your WIP develop feelings for each other? And how quickly or slowly do they enter a relationship?

We've seen the proposed 100% tariff for films produced outside the US. How long before the same happens to books? Not to sound paranoid, but the potential for censorship through this mechanism is frightening. #writersky
