Is your business on the right side of history?

Maritime disruptions, foreign data laws, cyber fallout, and influence campaigns aren’t abstract risks.
They define 2025.

Your business is already part of geopolitical competition.
Scenario planning is how you stay ahead.

76,000 fake social media accounts.
Thousands of people trafficked and beaten.
$15 billion in Bitcoin seized for US coffers.

The aftermath raises huge geopolitical questions--and lots of risk.

42% of the world now buys China’s anti-U.S. narrative. At the SCO Summit, Xi & Putin painted America as the threat—backed by new institutions & info ops. If the U.S. doesn’t act fast, it risks losing allies.

42 Percent Of The World Is Buying China’s Anti-U.S. Narrative
At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, China and Russia pushed an anti-US narrative. Xi’s legal warfare and India’s role show rising risks in a time of tariffs.

This week, the U.S. chased off a Chinese vessel operating near Alaska. The Philippines is tracking 3 in its waters.
In my latest @Forbes column, I break down how China’s research is blurring the line between science and strategy—turning oceanographic surveys into legal warfare.

China’s Research Masks A Military Agenda From Alaska To Manila
China's research vessels are blurring scientific and military aims, and raising legal and security concerns in the US, Taiwan, and worldwide.

China is using laws as weapons—and most leaders don’t even see it coming.

🔥 My latest @Forbes column—just named an Editor’s Pick—asks a tough question: What if Israel’s strike on Iran was legal under international law? And what does that say about how outdated our 9rules of war have become?

Two courts ruled Trump's use of emergency powers (IEEPA) to impose sweeping tariffs went too far.
Another court said… not so fast.
This legal showdown isn’t just about trade.
It’s about the limits of executive power.

🌮 Trump’s tariffs got struck down—then instantly revived.

Courts ruled he can’t use “emergency powers” for sweeping economic tariffs. But they also showed him how to reissue them legally.

And yes—he’s already started.

Court Rulings Mean Tariffs Stay On The Menu—And TACO Is Off
Courts struck down and then revived Trump's tariffs this week. Trump is already preparing another way for his tariffs to survive—and to declare political victory.

International standards (ITU, ISO) matter to internet freedom, and China is on the march
While we argue about tariffs, China is building a global surveillance web. It’s exporting repressive laws, dominating tech standards, and reshaping the Internet. My latest in @Forbes explains why the U.S. must act now.
Forget Tariffs—The Real US-China Tech War Is Over Internet Freedom
China is exporting censorship, surveillance, & cyber law to dominate global tech. The U.S. must act to protect Internet freedom, tech & AI standards, & US businesses.
