and maybe that's a big lesson people could take away from it - instead of designing your next roleplay server to be the one-stop for all the second-lifers, the grinders, the storytellers and the shooters, just focus on what you specifically want to do with the server. specialization, y'know?

there's probably lessons you could learn from both sides, honestly - especially from the essentially GM/server admin side.
of course, the biggest difference is not everyone is into RP servers for necessarily the same reason - where as signing up for something like a megagame yknow what it is.

randomly found out about this the other day, and it immediately struck me how similar this is to some people's visions of what you can do with a roleplay server for a game like gta. probably the core crux is the fact there's so many people involved at the SAME time.

megagames (silly name for 'em) being an event in which 20-50 players are invited to a physical location and are given roles and teams and are all collaborating towards their own goal, in a story-first matter. one major megagame is essentially political teams of nations, and a secret alien team.
