I can't believe this was only 17 days ago
I gotta give it up to the writers tho. If NYC elects a Muslim mayor on the day Dick Cheney died, that is one hell of a slow played story arc. Every time you want to fire 2025's writers room they give you a little narrative resolution as a treat.

My pile of jeans is looking at me right now
“But Frog,” said Toad, “if I pick up my pants and jacket right now, then I will not have to pick them up tomorrow, will I?”

“No,” said Frog, “You will not have to.”

Toad picked up his clothes. He put them in the closet.

‘Death remains my intimate shadow partner. It has been with me since birth, always hovering close by. I understand one day we will finally waltz together into the ether. I hope when that time comes, I die with the satisfaction of a life well-lived, unapologetic, joyful, & full of love.’

I am no longer employed so I'm not blogging Zohran tonight but I can just repeat exactly what I said in June :-)

he won on the back of a pro-migrant, pro-trans, pro-working class campaign. and also: Dem pundits are full of shit

Zohran Mamdani did something different, and it made all the difference.

SCOOP w/ @dell.bsky.social: the FBI is warning law enforcement to look out for people impersonating ICE to facilitate other criminal acts

Plus, some odd details I got via FOIA about a March incident in which an aspiring prank YouTuber allegedly impersonated ICE:

FBI Warns of Criminals Posing as ICE, Urges Agents to ID Themselves
In a bulletin to law enforcement agencies, the FBI said criminal impersonators are exploiting ICE’s image and urged nationwide coordination to distinguish real operations from fakes.

Masterful campaign. Start to finish.
A few days after the presidential election one year ago, we went to Fordham Road in the Bronx.

It was a little different last week.

“If you live in a 15 minute city but your barista can’t afford to live there too, you don’t live in a 15 minute city, you live in a theme park.“
who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.

Americans simply do not understand how much space and work crops are to grow because of the disconnect of having constant access to perfect tomatoes in the store. Subsistence farming is a FULL TIME JOB. Everything in the world wants to kill or eat your crops and is much more experienced at doing so.
On Threads, the usual suspects are telling ppl about to lose SNAP benefits to just start a garden. As a gardener, I had to laugh. You need at LEAST an acre of land to feed a family of 4. Start-up costs are enormous. But yes, subsistence farming on the balcony of your rental apartment is the answer
