This is great - really glad I read it. The challenge is line managing middle leadership, who often have overlapping roles. Are Heads of Year or Heads of House on say 17 hours a week line managed by their HoD or by the SLT member responsible for their role? If slt, how do you fold in subject dev?

It’s such a wide field - are you thinking of TAs? Or wider support/operational staff? It’s one of the challenges of modern schools, isn’t it? The sheer scale and range of colleagues in each school.

This is what I mean - sometimes the pressure not to waste a minute feels overwhelming. Not that I’m advocating wasting time, but I really think a lesson that goes off track and ends up in a random class discussion isn’t a catastrophe. Learning is lumpy sometimes!
