I haven’t heard anything about fire alarms. Some of the finishing work in a few units was just a little behind schedule. Housing applications and placements are happening right now, though.

I did not expect to see myself in this video lol.

What’s your go-to for translating meiwaku and shouganai?

I live in Victoria and I can say that it is used some of the time, usually when speaking to an international audience and referencing a broader geographical area.

I misspoke in the video. Bike thefts aren’t down 18%, but rather *28%*.

Thanks, bike valet!

I’ve been saying the same thing for years.

I note that the independent review of CleanBC says that expansion of LNG is incompatible with climate goals.

Interesting. I did not know that.

A park-and-ride is one vision. At the moment, there’s no vision.

A lot has changed since 2021. It’s absolutely worth a feasibility study on a ferry to the West Shore. But nothing happens without vision.

Good question — it’s for both.

The sign could be placed elsewhere. It’s just one idea.

My view is that anything that attracts more people to this liminal space is welcome. When combined with the proposed upgrades, I think it would be transformative. Status quo ain’t working.

So depressing. They will be digging out of this hole for many years. They are torching their legacy and reputation as climate champions. Slashing arts and parks funding.

This likely spells the end for Sim and his crew.
November 26, 2025 at 5:15 AM
Totally. The current plans include a new stage, new play features, seating, food trucks, lighting, water and misting features, etc.

I don’t meant to imply that a large sign would be the only attraction, but if it gets more people to the space, I’m all for it. Everything helps.

Fair points. I think when combined with other assets and amenities, they make people feel like they’ve had a “complete” experience.

People enjoy the Canada sign in the Inner Harbour with the water in the background.

But frankly, attracting people to a marginalized space is…attractive as an idea.
November 26, 2025 at 4:28 AM
No, nobody is going to get on a plane for it, but the experience of other cities suggests they help attract people to an area. When combined with other, new amenities in Centennial, I think it would be effective.
