Blushing Dapperling, Leucoagaricus badhamii.

Seen at the allotment today, beneath a conifer hedge. I saw it in the same place in November 2023.

Bruises orange-red on handling. The bruised areas eventually turn almost black.

Good to see it again.

This is my favourite gravestone, in a quiet Norfolk churchyard.

"A poor illiterate peasant who set out to establish himself and his family in a foreign land and succeeded."

He would have had no chance under current immigration rules, let alone the even nastier ones proposed by Shabana Mahmood.

Slender Parasol, Macrolepiota mastoidea.

Woodland edge, East Carleton, Norfolk.

Seen on yesterday's bike ride.

"mastoidea" = breast-like, an appropriate description.

Swarms of small brown on woodchip at UEA, Norwich.

Last year I found them in the same place and collected samples for DNA analysis. They turned out to be Marasmiellus villosipes (aka Collybiopsis villosipes). UEA is the second Norfolk site.

White Saddle, Helvella crispa.

When @vannabartlett.bsky.social and I were out walking this afternoon we were talked about how we hadn't seen any White Saddles this year.

A few yards further on, we found some - and then another group on a road verge near home.

Mealy Domecap, Tricholomella constricta.

A friend asked me to identify these fungi, growing in a neighbour's garden.

Pure white with a mealy smell, they often grow in places where animals (especially dogs) urinate, so can sometimes be found on grass verges in Norwich.
