Jazz pianist philosophies as I understand them:

Johnny Costa: A piano by itself, in the hands of a master, is enough to fill a hall.

McCoy Tyner: A piano, surrounded by other instruments working to a common purpose, creates a magical fusion.

Art Tatum: I am at least three pianos.

I’m proud to have played my part in fighting DOGE, but the fight’s not over yet.

This is no more a victory than when a tsunami begins to flow back out to sea. The destruction from DOGE is incalculable, and goes far beyond what can be measured in money.

Our case, Lentini et al. v. DOGE, is ongoing.
The "Department of Government Efficiency" has disbanded eight months early.

DOGE sowed chaos throughout the government and disrupted services relied upon by millions, while finding hardly any savings.

Here's what you should know about damage that DOGE leaves behind.

Are there still partisan apparatchiks in the top offices of every Cabinet department and agency purging civil servants and imposing ideological purity tests on the remainder while stealing appropriated funds and steering them towards Trump’s allies?

THEN IT AIN’T DEAD
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

It troubles me that we will spend roughly 5,000,000 times more energy on Greene’s resignation than on the atrocities in Tanzania. Both are instructive about our own political situation. (Trigger warning: extremely disturbing video and photos) www.cnn.com/2025/11/21/a...

100%, but especially this:

“A university is a place for multiple perspectives and a clash of ideas.”

I sure wish Maric had understood that point a couple of years ago. Then I wouldn’t have had to spend so much time in court defending peaceful protesters who were wrongfully arrested on campus.

Note that this absolute Nazi shit is being posted the same day that the Coast Guard—which is under DHS—is reportedly relaxing its rules about displaying actual fucking swastikas.
this defies parody. also helps explain why Sec Bessent bizarrely blamed immigrants when confronted with a question about high beef prices

Telling Mister Bone Saw you’re glad to be his friend is like telling Jeffrey Epstein that you’re glad to be his friend.

I hate poll-based arguments like this because shutdowns flat-out suck for anyone who needs federal services (i.e. all of us), and especially for the working poor. The polls were favorable, but even setting the political math aside, any deal that continues to fuck over workers isn’t worth making.
"Democrats could have held the line on the shutdown, and spent weeks watching Trump’s approval ratings fall," writes @jonathanbchait.bsky.social
Instead, he argues, they're making a mistake by giving in:
