And to those who were cruelly fired: This is proof they’re targeting the best and brightest.

Wear it as a badge of honor. Your integrity and commitment speak louder than anything this regime can do.

Take the time you need to grieve.

Then join the fight. 💚💪

Good morning, friends. The mass firings at CDC and health depts are a blow to public health—and democracy itself.

Those still holding the line: Your work has never been more vital.

This regime attacks us because they fear our strength.

The people united will never be defeated.

With both RFK Jr and Gabbard confirmed, two people who rose to prominence spreading conspiracy theories about public health and national intelligence will now run the U.S. government agencies in charge of those areas. For someone studying these conspiracy theories for a decade... this is nauseating.

Remember this day when conservatives scream about Dems politicizing public health.

The GOP made this political.
The GOP chose party over science, over data, over health promotion, over disease prevention.

Welcome to Make America SICK Again.
The Senate has officially confirmed RFK Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

As @davidcorn.bsky.social wrote last month, this is the appointment that "could be the most dangerous act of Trump’s presidency."

Lost my CDC contract after a visit from DOGE. I feel like I’m in the dirt (or TBH eating a pint of ice cream on a couch crying). But here’s the thing: Pushing people down—especially those with heart, purpose, and love for public service—doesn’t mean they stay down. It’s literally against their DNA.

From @telliotter.bsky.social:

Sources tell WIRED that the OPM’s top layers of management now include individuals linked to xAI, Neuralink, the Boring Company, and Palantir. One expert found the takeover reminiscent of Stalin.

I hope he's right. But in the meantime, the executive branch of the government is illegally seizing powers to dismantle the administrative state and this nation's most necessary programs. This is an authoritarian coup, or another attempt at one.
Trump and his advisors are high on their own supply after getting away with so much in their first week. But they are going to regret this one. It’ll devastate red states that rely on this money for basic programs that keep people fed, clothed, alive. A huge unforced error politically and legally.
Trump is attempting to unilaterally freeze trillions of dollars in federal spending that’s been duly appropriated by Congress. This is completely insane and illegal. He’s seizing unlawful control over the constitutional spending power? Five alarm fire www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
