The NY Times Pumpkin Bundt Cake with Maple Brown Butter Glaze is delicious. Even if you don’t brown the butter in the maple glaze or put roasted pepitas on top. I am bringing to all the work pot lucks this year.

Some smells are good enough to wade through chest high snow.
December 8, 2025 at 1:54 PM
Some smells are good enough to brave the snow. Fire hydrant for reference - in the last 10 days we got 11.5 in, 4 in and the. 6-8 in of snow.

She still is but has decided that at 11 or 12, she is too old to climb trees anymore and also too old to get snow on her chest - which is going to be tough because we have 16-18 inches on the ground right now.
December 8, 2025 at 12:00 PM
For those who might have forgotten - she really climbed trees.
December 8, 2025 at 11:54 AM
That is wonderful! We think that Gail is 11 or 12 and although she has given up clinging trees after squirrels, she did climb the neighbor’s 6 ft fence.

I have rescued hunting dogs - when they get going, he bays and she barks - with an occasional howl thrown in. I think he wanted me to let him out to help and she wanted them to go away.

Gail would also find that sus. She has been carefully examining every interesting spot in the snow.

Also Lennie and Gail helped cook - cake (that went to work), chicken they got to taste, and salad they refused to eat. Also Houston might move to Düsseldorf next year.
December 7, 2025 at 2:44 PM
Gail and Lennie got a foot of snow and Houston got stitches in his leg and a snazzy kid’s sweater.

When Abel (the black boi) was old but not elderly, he used to steal things off the kitchen counter. One morning I came downstairs and he was very wobbly. I wondered if he had a stroke until I walked into the kitchen and saw the remains of a bag from a box of wine on the floor. He was drunk.

I told my son today that when you get older, simple things are exciting. Came home this evening to a pristinely clean driveway because I texted the guy I pay to plow and asked him to clear it because Village had filled the end with ice after 3-4 in more snow fell on the original 12. $35 well spent.

Haven’t shared cooking pictures in a while - crispy rice, Shirazi salad, roasted chicken and rice pudding. Recipes from Good Things by Samin Nosrat. All delicious. All seemed like more work than necessary.

Houston is rocking his child’s sweatshirt after an altercation with a neighbor dog which resulted in stitches for Houston.
December 2, 2025 at 1:50 AM
It is mostly because as true scent hounds - Lennie and Gail spend a lot of time with their noses to the ground and their butts in the air.
December 2, 2025 at 1:35 AM
I have lots of pictures of Lennie and Gail’s butts too - although everything here is snow covered.
December 2, 2025 at 1:32 AM
Lennie and Gail would like to share their walkies this evening after a foot of snow. (If you look closely your can see it is snowing again)
December 2, 2025 at 1:29 AM
Yes. Now if only I could convince Lennie not to try to mark an indoor tree . . .
November 30, 2025 at 2:48 PM
On a different subject - my son is interviewing for a job in Düsseldorf. He may be moving there with Houston next year.
November 30, 2025 at 2:47 PM
Lennie and Gail are enjoying it. I pay someone to clear my driveway and sidewalks, bought groceries yesterday and have nowhere I need to be before Monday.
November 30, 2025 at 5:10 AM
8-1/2” of snow so far and still falling. Looks like we could get a foot of snow before this is over.
November 30, 2025 at 4:32 AM
Gail and Lennie would like to report SNOW! We are on the line between 6-10 inches and “more” by 6 am on Sunday.
November 29, 2025 at 4:31 PM
@joshuaicore.bsky.social Gail and Lennie wish all the chonks and humans in your household a Happy Thanksgiving.

We may have a 3 brindle household soon. My son is interviewing with companies in the EU and thinks he is going to move himself before his dog so Houston may stay here.
November 27, 2025 at 4:13 PM
Gail and Lennie think you are missing the best part of the year - they will be here to tell you about it when you return.
November 27, 2025 at 1:06 AM
Lennie's idea of running is full speed for about 5 minutes (if it is not too hot) then just amble around and sniff things.
