I love technically accurate but useless descriptions. Disney+ has some great ones for The Simpsons.

This description of It's a Wonderful Life from Apple's store is technically accurate in every detail yet also somehow very funny.

Someone told me to watch this SNL sketch about America’s “media-opoly.”

It feels eerily prophetic given the Warner Bros/Netflix/Paramount merger saga. Watch.

This is one of those things that makes me so angry about this stuff. We are at an amazing level of technological progress and we can’t even actually appreciate because almost everything they claim it can do is a lie even though what it can do is amazing.

It's actually pretty cool to be able to remotely control a robot and could be useful for dangerous work (bomb squad, radioactive materials, etc), but it's wasted on pretending AI is real.

This commercial for French's Mustard from 1987 is equal parts charming and also kinda unsettling, but what strikes me is the work that went into the absolutely delightful puppetry and practical effects for a *mustard commercial*!! Imagine that today??

'you can generate a different ending every time you view a movie!'

'you can have endless text conversations with NPCs in games!'

'you can summarize a novel, you don't have to read it!'

the pitches for genAI really reveal how much the people behind it just... hate art.

like. *hate* art. deeply.

Considering Warner Bros.' history of being like a cursed relic, I'm gonna wait 3-5 years to see the result of this deal. If they end up being the same as AT&T, AOL and Discovery by that time, we may witness the total downfall of Netflix and streaming as we know it.

Netflix to buy Warner Bros film and streaming businesses for $72bn
The major Hollywood deal means Netflix will takeover ownership of franchises including Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.

I’m genuinely so happy that K. Rool and the Kremlings are important enough to Nintendo now that they’re starting to use them in promotional material, after barely doing anything with them for like 2 decades

I’m not anti-gambling in totality and even think a basic level of regulated sports gambling isn’t the worst thing in the world. But it’s pretty astounding how quickly the current system careened toward turning every dumbass bet you might casually make with your friends into multimillion dollar pots.
Hi. There has been $38 million worth of activity on the game of the year results on gambling platform Polymarket.
