I’m super glad I have listened to all their albums now, though.

I imagine somebody starting with Rubber Soul and going, “wow, this is amazing,” and then they get to Revolver and, my god..

Idk if this is controversial, but I feel HELP! Is solidly better than the first 4 albums, and I know it has probably their most iconic song, but Rubber Soul was a new evolution and then they decided to stop trying to make songs they could tour and that’s when they locked in.

Went by fast. Probably up there close to the top of these four. Ultimately, I really do feel if one is curious about The Beatles for the first time, do start with Rubber Soul and go up from there. Come back to these oldies later.

I’ll Follow the Sun is very pretty.

In this exploration of their early work that I’m doing, “If I Fell” is the first Beatles’ song I had never heard before that I was dazzled by. Beautiful! “And I Love Her” is just an all-time banger. This album is a step up from the previous ones, for me.

You actually can’t have an original thought in this age bc two clicks later you see 75,000 other humans have already had that same thought and uploaded a video about it.

Oh yeah. It seems like many are on board with this.

Bill Kristol’s inner social democrat? What a strange timeline.

Harmonies are off the chain. The hooks go on for days. These both are very hard to do and extremely impressive to me, but it’s all pretty surface-y otherwise, when you think of their later work.

So. I would say that, like anthropologically, I can definitely understand how these albums propelled them into the stratosphere in the 1960s. I also, thus far, agree with myself in ignoring most of their music pre-Rubber Soul.

2 more to go. I have already heard, and don’t love, Help.

I did fall asleep (possibly non-derogatory). Will finish it tonight.

The lyrics in Little Child sound crazy in the year of our lord 2025, but I am pretty sure we are encountering some 1960s slang
