I suspect most residents of BC (avuncular or otherwise) have more familiarity with the story. I was following it primarily because it's so fantastically weird.

As a Canadian, I'm well aware of the tendency of the Trump administration to have big feelings about effective ads. (If you've not seen coverage of the kerfuffle over Ontario's Reagan ad, you might find it interesting!)

This is the best argument in favour of not doing so. If they're being used to hold talks hostage now, there's no guarantee a hostile administration won't just brick them in future.
