For those in #bsbookclub that read Parable of the Sower 🌰with me this year, this is a great new bio of Butler to check out, a really thorough look at her life and works.
I'm currently listening to the audio; PotS comes in around the 2/3 mark (it's one of her later works) 📚💙

It's like the Monty Python Funniest Joke in the World sketch. Except, you know, real life.

Last day of #bannedbooksweek! 📚💙

The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison has been on the Top 10 challenged list for *years*

Yet it is an amazing work of literature:

We read All Boys Aren't Blue for my book club this year.

While our group (women in our 30s) thought it was just an OK read, it certainly has great literary merit, especially for young people. It should be read and discussed widely, not banned.

The most common reasons for challenges were false claims of illegal obscenity for minors; inclusion of LGBTQIA+ characters or themes; and dealing with topics of race, racism, inclusivity, equity, and social justice.

It's Banned Book Week! 📚💙

Celebrating our freedom to read is more important than ever.

The American Library Association documented 821 attempts to censor materials and services at libraries, schools, and universities in 2024, covering 2,452 unique titles.

It's just the Capture posts from specific users setting. Make sure you save and publish after. But honestly, sometimes it gets wonky anyways. I had to manually include/exclude some posts.
