When the Human League were dropped from the Talking Heads tour, Joy Division were to replace them in Scotland.

OTD 1981: New Order's classic Movement album (FAC 50) entered the UK charts. It stayed for ten weeks peaking at number 30. Tony Wilson described the chart position as ‘extremely poor’.

Joy Division travelled down from Manchester only to be told they weren't playing. Rezillos had split up and John Otway and Chelsea were to headline that night instead
