"either this thing is a crime or you have to be totally fine with it" is such a silly straw man for any number of reasons, not least of which is that as a prison abolitionist, I don't feel like incarceration is a good solution to things I DO think are crimes!
This a pretty tight illustration of the critical flaw in the 1A approach to freedom speech.

even though I haven't done a whole lot of writing for public consumption this year, I'm really happy with how much journalling I've been doing, especially these last few months - I'd fallen out of the habit of writing just to write, and getting back into it has been helpful in all kinds of ways

isn't it just so weird how the points of difference this kind of person expects you to accept are never things like "how best can we ensure that every human being is adequately housed and fed?" and always things like "are trans people human?"
There is an extraordinary sense of entitlement behind the belief that there ought to be political party that aligns 100% with your own opinions.
