The proliferation of coffee shops selling the Costco bacon egg and cheese croissant is so funny.

Like yes, there is a customer base who would pay 6 bucks for a minimum wage worker to heat up a frozen breakfast sandwich because that customer doesn't want 5 of those sandwiches in their home freezer

Seattle is a city of middle managers and now we're seeing tech reduce those roles, so ecosystems of business lunches and craft breweries are eating shit.

I’ve been running around asking tech execs and academics if language was the same as intelligence for over a year now - and, well, it isn’t. @benjaminjriley.bsky.social explains how the bubble is built on ignoring cutting-edge research into the science of thought www.theverge.com/ai-artificia...

Loving those Mamdani comparisons

(You don't win elections by being combative but you don't beat fascism with appeasement to corporate interests. Also looking at you Girmay)

those of us laid off from Teen Vogue were really fortunate to complete our fundraising goal — the laid-off staffers at VIBE deserve the same support, as Black media outlets and journalists continue to be targeted and discriminated against in “austerity” measures

People don't drink Starbucks because they like coffee.

They drink Starbucks to send a message, and the message is "I don't have to care about what YOU PEOPLE care about — I'm better than you."
Is it really that hard for people to give up Starbucks? Everything there tastes like it has a fine coat of plastic. Even the “coffee.”

My moral disgust is constantly simmering but I'm finding it hard to mask right now.

More at how many powerful people knew and didn't use all the resources at their avail to stop the ascendance to power because calling his supporters deplorable was too divisive and money speaks louder than decency.

🧵. Note that Divest believes 2 of the 3 officers involved in the shooting were rookies. There will be many rookies flooding into SPD from the hiring spree this year.
UPDATE: The Office of Police Accountability has opened an investigation into the three officers who fatally shot a man in SODO on Oct. 30.

While OPA has opened investigations into every 2025 shooting, this one is different. The allegations are "Conformance to Law," not force.
CW: Shooting/Death

New video of last week's shooting in SODO.

Officers told him to drop his gun. He did. They killed him.

This got me blocked, but y'all need to divorce yourself from the celebrity of politicians.

Comparing Mamdani to Wilson is marketing not policy. Both are going to struggle to achieve campaign promises. Not to say it's futile to try, but starry eyed fandom is not going to build the better world.
The comparison is so gd sweaty. She had something in the Stranger earlier this year on how the left™️ got their approach to homelessness wrong and the solution was sympathizing with suburban fears
