Not a hacker but a pushy salesperson pulled this on me once. I wore the cone of shame for a day 🫠. Social engineering is so good.

I almost mentioned what hacking is actually like alternate B:

Bring donuts or something using two hands to carry, wait until the receptionist who buzzes in visitors is using the restroom, tailgate in the door behind someone and say, "hey can you point me toward <FirstName> <LastName>?"

But yeah also I'm glad I hadn't taken bun off my shelf of "things to try out" yet. Didn't even have to delete it. Byeee

One interesting bit I noticed is that the author calls out bun's single-file executables a couple times. NodeJS is working on this too, parseArgs came in and stable a while back. Arms race for nice features for people who like to build CLIs, yay.

I was told what hacking is actually like is:

Wearing a construction vest and carrying a clipboard and just walking into places

I don't always finish, but I like to use it as a place to kick the tires on a new language or tool or something I'm interested in. This year is a familiar language, but using jujutsu for version control www.jj-vcs.dev/latest/

Is Rupert Murdoch part of the problem for y'all as well?

Agree. I notice white people think of racism as some indelible trait. In this conception racist is something you are, vs. racism is something you do. I think this is a reason why we fail to acknowledge the racism we are already doing or benefiting from, for fear of a Mark on Our Permanent Record.

Good point. No one in this country has ever faced overwhelmingly bad situations that last longer than a lifetime and worked to make them better anyways.

Thanks for the reminder that everything is hopeless, but I don't plan on giving it much mind.

It might not do anything to stop the person doing the racist behavior. But by confronting the racist behavior, you can help set a social norm for everyone else. It is important for someone to say "we don't do that here" to set the boundaries of unacceptable behavior. Don't let it go unchecked.

Neat experiment.

Some Matt Yglesias type, somewhere: "Yes, X is a right bubble, but Bluesky is a left bubble. We need a control group...".

Ahh "don't normalize slurs" is the normal group what are we doing.

I thought he deserved more playing time than he got this year. When Jackson Ragen is our LCB he starts our offense with line breaking passes. Sometimes we would bring Bell on at LCB and slide Ragen over to RCB and Ragen looked less effective there. No fault of Bell's, just not a great pairing.

Hate the ethics of the major companies involved and the hype, not the tech? I'm a big time OpenAI hater, but I get paid to work with it every day.

I think that even if we are in an AI investment bubble, some interesting stuff is probably still going to come out of MCP. Hooray for protocols.

What do you mean, "thaw"?

Yes, but have you considered:

What if Trump thinks he can get Xi to buy soybeans again if he gives up Taiwan, but is a fool and fails to even get the soybean sales?
