We all have our own views about what's going on at #LFC but this article from Paul Cope sums up what I believe to be root cause. It will cause debate but the drop off is so big, so significant and so difficult to compute,it seems the most logical reason imo

An exciting day for me: I’m holding a new novel in my hands for the first time in 15 years. This is my sixth overall. Hope to have it available for purchase early next year because it needs one more run through. Check out the first page!

It seems crazy to start this like this, but this is all about some stupid business
software. I was on a team of international developers. We were all foreigners in Germany except for Eve. Not to bore you with details but the CEO and owner, Reinhard (REDACTED], had started the [REDACTED] company over twenty years ago, which meant that it was his baby. But that baby started earning real money with our efforts.
Eve, Zeynep, Pavel, Milo, Geanie and me. Those guys were fucking superstars. But that is all over now for me, and fuck Reinhard, too. I had such a sweet little life there. As an (REDACTED] citizen, I had learned pretty quickly when I moved to Europe that we don't actually have a work life balance where I am from. Inside tip to people in their twenties and thirties who are reading this: Work-life balance > $.
Anyway, having that unspoken trust that constant success breeds made it easier for
us to flourish. The Germans call it 'psychologische Sicherheit', psychological safety.
Nearly a decade of wins had given us loads of it and that's probably how we got lulled into what happened. The one thing that had maybe been holding me back was the fact I didn't have a German passport. Not having the passport meant I couldn't just up and start a new life in another country like EU citizens can. So not having that passport had been a golden cage. Then I wake up here after getting attacked in Germany and this Interpol agent is sitting in my room like some creep. We go get a coffee and he just straight up gave me a German passport, even with my nickname printed in it. It is in my pocket right now. Career path?
I guess moving to Germany 20 years led me to teaching English but the pandemic showed me as a 50-year old I probably shouldn’t be freelance anymore. I studied again so I could work with software developers but I got laid off this week so the path needs a good machete for hacking now.

I’ve never said this before in my life but I think I’m getting fired tomorrow. My boss scheduled a meeting about 2026 planning and couldn’t confirm that I wasn’t getting fired even after I expressed my paranoia.
Anyone got a story about being fired and it later being a great thing for them after?
