“A president just disrespected America in the Oval Office. It wasn’t Zelensky.” - absolute mic drop.
NEW: A searing editorial in the The Kyiv Independent.

“It’s time to say it plainly. America’s leadership has switched sides in the war. The American people have not, and they should speak up.

The idea that JD Vance—who has never been to Ukaine and chalks up his knowledge to shit he read on the internet—believes he knows more about the situation in Ukraine than the man who has led it for the past 5.5 years is a perfect encapsulation of the havoc this administration is wreaking worldwide
ZELENSKYY: Putin broke the ceasefire. What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you speaking about?

VANCE: I think it's disrespectful to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media

I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US. Totally embarrassing.

Trump has basically said fuck you to Ukraine, and Zelenskyy is supposed to say thank you?? This is some dumb shit right here.
VP Vance to President Zelenskyy: Have you said thank you once?

This is how you know you’re not doing what your constituents want. If you’re afraid of backlash and pushback, something’s very wrong with what you’re doing.
House Republican leadership has advised caucus members to avoid in-person town halls, fearing that voter backlash may become viral if circulated online.

This is your regular reminder that government mandated backdoors for end-to-end encrypted comms are bullshit, make everyone less safe, and should be resisted at maximum volume.
Proposed bill in Sweden would require Signal/WhatsApp to store messages users send through the apps and provide a backdoor to gov/law enforcement to read the encrypted comms. Signal head @meredithmeredith.bsky.social says Signal will halt service for users in Sweden if this becomes a requirement

So much pain could have been avoided if they had just asked what “probationary” actually entails. As Reacher would say, “assumptions kill in an investigation”
NEW LAWSUIT: An employee of the VA since 2006, who took law classes at night to get a promotion to the general counsel's office in 2024, was fired as a "probationary" employee because of her recent job change.
