Blockbuster could've purchased #Netflix during the early 2000s for $50m and they reportedly laughed Netflix out of the door. Netflix is now poised to purchase Warner Bros. and as for Blockbuster, all that remains of them is an independently owned store in Oregon that's the last Blockbuster on Earth.

I'd love to buy the Babylon 5 Blu-ray but it's pricey and I'm broke at the mo. The DVDs have technical issues but I've managed to obtain the series in decent quality 4:3 SD and this will tide me over. ☺️

What a fantastic piece of TV Babylon 5 is. The storylines and themes are even more relevant now.

That epitomises how downhill we've gone with longevity. These are all "80s babies" and continuing to work perfectly. Only the Mac needed attention and that was to replace its *West German* CMOS battery to prevent leakage. It now has a battery holder and a new 1/2 AA battery and works like a champ. 🥳

I'd require a thread to discuss my fave Sega arcade titles but following your lead, I present a quartet (geddit?) of examples that have entertained me through the decades. 🎮

With the SAROO, I can obtain it for the best price of all: free! 😁

Thanks - I'm going to check it out. 🎮

Here's mine! What I've always liked about much of Atari's arcade roster is that they challenge the player to think and react rather than learn and memorise patterns. Which is something that was lost when operators/owners wanted games with limited levels and high difficulty to impose a set game time.

I love Pac-Mania, even though I'm no good at it despite many years of attempts to improve. 😁

There's Mario Kart arcade series? This completely passed me by. Here's my nomination for a Namco arcade title from more recent years. 👇

Probably...

Right... Juries have never symbolised anything of significance through the centuries. You can just imagine Badenoch and co. grinning in connivance at this. They'll all in this together.

Many happy returns to Sega's hardware swansong! 🎮

Here's my Dreamcast, resurrected from the dead after a PSU failure and overhauled to fix that pesky, perpetual time/date error. ☺️

My oldest friend wanted an Atari 2600 but his mum was persuaded by the sales staff to buy a CoCo instead because it offered scope beyond gaming.

It certainly did for me! I spent a lot of time looking at that green desktop whilst typing in code from the manual on his behalf due to his dyslexia. 👨‍💻

"Easy money!"

– John Connor 😁

Terry Pratchett used one for note-taking and writing on the move and despite his gripes with the bugs and issues that accompany owning the first-generation of a product, he praised its ultra-portability and functionality in this March 1990 interview. 👇

Originally, I saw this on late night TV during the 90s and recently, I finally located a digital version with English subtitles. A true story packed with pathos, dark humour and thoughtfulness from start to finish.

@criterion.bsky.social Consider this for a Blu-ray release, please! 🙏

Currently, the oldest console in my collection is a U.S. model Atari 7800. It needs some attention to get it working and now that I've got much more free time, this is something that I'm going to address. 😉

Citizen Kane was a film that people raved about but I never took any notice. When BBC2 aired it during the 2000s, I decided to tune in and after that, I understood why it's so highly acclaimed and I too then raved about it. What a cinematic debut! 👏

The greatest film ever? Yes, so far...

My DVD. 👇

I've got the whole set for my Super Famicom. Fantastic games. 🎮 😁

When I've confronted people about their behaviour towards me, there's usually two outcomes: either my masculinity and over-sensitivity are questioned or they semi-apologise and do it again. Severance ends up being the only solution.

Totally agree: we have to promote a society that values kindness.

Time for me to crack out the "Queen Vic" and go exploring. 😁
November 23, 2025 at 1:32 AM
Agreed. I'm going to check it out on my Genesis and I'll report back. Final Fight isn't a game that I've played much, so some swotting up will be required first. 👇

Same here! 😁

When I treated myself to a Super Famicom from Japan, back in the summer, Super Mario World was amongst the first games that I bought for it.

An excellent showcase of what the SFC/SNES could achieve and a damn fun entry in the #Mario franchise too. 🎮
