I am just as surprised as you are.

Wine educator, optimistic American, History buff, #1 fan of Jess Hutchinson. I wasn't born in Chicago, but I got here as soon as I could.

It's almost as if the entire career of Henry Kissinger would make the current Presidential Administration think that there were no serious consequences for war crimes/ mass murders.

Normally the creators of beloved children’s cartoon characters would not need to disavow the U.S. Secretary of Defense, but ours is a drunken miscreant, a loutish boor with the dignity and nobility of a counterfeit butt-plug

TX Tech has a flow chat for guidance on what can be taught in the university system. Two things:
1. Very little content seems to be permitted. This is partisan control of the curriculum.
2. I would not enjoy teaching under these conditions, but I really would not want to be a Chair or Dean.

I don't even know what I'd do with this. Probably just phone in whatever they want while I spend the rest of my time looking for another job, or even another profession

Like, for example, what does the US Department of Defense use as a literal example of a "clearly illegal order?"

Why, it's firing upon shipwrecked sailors! JFC

Breaking: Sen. Jacky Rosen of the Foreign Relations Cmte. says, if reports are true, "Hegseth likely committed a war crime when he gave an illegal order that led to the killing of incapacitated survivors of the U.S. strike in the Caribbean."

Rosen adds: "He should resign immediately."

at a certain point, after years of this, it is a choice, not a mistake, if someone brings their First Amendment fantasies to a Christian nationalist fight

I guess Admiral Bradley wants to be court martialed out of the service.
Reporter: Admiral Bradley was the one who gave that order for a second strike?

Leavitt: And he was well within his authority to do so.

Admiral Bradley is going to serve Pete Hegseth’s prison sentence. This is what cooperating with fascists gets you.

Pete Hegseth responded to all this with the smirking, adolescent sadism of a schoolyard bully pulling the legs off of a spider. Now juxtapose this with the horror experienced by a source who saw the imagery of the men being blown apart in the water:

we are well past the point at which anyone who cannot identify bad faith like this is disqualified from commenting on it

the girl and her mother are basically screaming THIS IS A BAD FAITH ATTACK ON TRANS PEOPLE at the top of their lungs and if you can't see that you're stupid or lying
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

WATCH: “What makes you say the 2nd strike was lawful? Did Hegseth say everyone should be killed? Does pardoning the drug trafficking Honduran ex-president undercut the message?”

Leavitt now admits a follow-up bombing took place to kill the survivors, insists it was “lawful”

Within just a few hours of getting this feedback, the student *emailed the fucking governor*. Her mom is all over Xitter posting like mad. I mean, are you new here? This coordinated RW attack is a pattern, and if you aren't paying attention to this context, I can't take you seriously. Do better.

The strike was not conducted in self defense, including because the Secretary of State indicated the President had the option to interdict the vessel but instead decided to use lethal force.

When you accept a bad faith argument, you make yourself look like a sucker. That's a shame, but you need to own it, show remorse, repent, and repair. That's growth.

Otherwise, you're just a centrist pundit like Matty Y.
Always liked Parker, so this nastiness is rather disappointing.

I’ll always defend trans rights as I have all my career. But I also believe in the First Amendment’s protecting people being wrong.

And that’s where my engagement will respectfully end for the day.

theres a huge problem with academics who cant see the most obvious political attacks. the right uses this like a hacker exploits a bug. these people are never operating in good faith and they use the basic protections of our society to literally undermine the equal rights of others. wake the hell up

FOX: You said the follow up strike was lawful. What law is it that allows no survivors?

LEAVITT: The strike was conducted in self defense to protect Americans
