Turns out this is a browser feature, which is why it annoyed me so much. It would take focus away from other browser chrome.
I'm using Vivaldi, and in Vivaldi it can be disabled under site permissions.

As if cookie notices weren't bad enough, I can't seem to get away from this trash lately. And it's particularly egregious because it takes focus away from whatever other Web ai.0 bullshit has been ejaculated upon your screen.

I love seeing mushrooms growing all over the place when I'm out walking. I saw a particularly large number yesterday, with these little cuties sprouting up just about everywhere.

I've had a permanent GitHub notification that I cannot get rid of for a couple of weeks, now. It's when a spammer mentioned me in a repo that no longer exists. I hate it :(.

British Airways booking form is using this totally unusable telephone number prefix dropdown. I can't hit "N" to go to the Netherlands easily, so I'm going to have to hunt it down manually.
Not great, unless you live in the UK, US, or France. Or Afghanistan or Albania, I guess.
