Managed to visit & tour Gettysburg this afternoon between the massive thunderstorms. The skies parted for our visit. Excellent start to our 8th grade trip!

If Governor DeWine and Speaker Huffman get their way, funding for public education in Ohio will be slashed to the bone to increase subsidization of the expanded voucher program. Ohio's public schools educate 90% of our students across the state. policymattersohio.org/research/sav... #Ohio #Education

“Accustomed to trample on the rights of those around you, you have lost the genius of your own independence, and become fit subjects of the first cunning tyrant who rises.” - Lincoln, 9/11/1858 Speech at Edwardsville; re: personal & political liberty in conflict with moral evils perpetuated.

15 degrees F, real feel of 5 degrees F. Might as well be island time in Ohio when the grill is rolling. Needed a mid-January pick me up.

Meacham, pp.178-179 (“And There Was Light”) Excellent commentary regarding the complex & often conflicting roots of public sentiment; particular emphasis on which push & pull forces tend to “win out” when reason is juxtaposed with passion.

Before Christmas break our class lost our fish, Gilbert. Today I was surprised with 4 new fish by one of our students. 8th graders can be pleasant surprises!

31-4. Huge matchup vs OKC on Wednesday. This season has been so much fun as a Cleveland fan. Appreciated the distraction during the Browns abysmal season. Keep the energy flowing! #LetEmKnow #Cavs #NBA #CLE

Cheers to my in-laws for the Lincoln items at Christmas. A copy of an 1891 CB Hall engraving. And steel cents from 1943. Last year they gifted me 1909 Lincoln pennies & postage stamps.
