In my book I included a table of office holders which identified those who were subsequently elected/became ministers. Above all the Group was a way to climb the greasy pole, appealing to Macmillan era ministers who wished to flaunt their youth appeal or fly kites to test ideas.

Very interesting. Thanks for the heads up. I didn’t investigate the social origins of the founders as carefully as I should have but my memory is that the early Bow Group had a strong University of London contingent. My sense is Oxford less represented, Cambridge more.
