This is pretty impressive data, and shows it ‘can be done’. VBC shifts focus to quality of care, but if the financial upside is not huge, the amount of effort it takes to set it up, and ‘run it’ can be daunting. We @UAB have had success with KCF, but KCF is ‘small game’, so hard to extrapolate.

As a general nephrologist, you always worry if ‘inactivating folks that aren’t ready’ may negatively affect the marginal candidates and lead to cherry picking, which is unfortunately a challenge with many of the value based care programs.
