I maintain that once somebody published a study, anybody can criticize it publicly, & there is no *obligation* to wait for the original authors' (OA) to reply.

1st, why would the OAs get to have the last word at every step?
2nd, waiting opens up a loophole for the OAs to derail the process.

I must have missed this but Andrew Huberman is on the board of Mark "Functional Medicine" Hyman's company, which overtests customers and fills them with dietary supplements.

Huberman has yet to see a supplement he doesn't like.

🐺 Wolves in dog's clothing 🐺

Our latest in @pnas.org uncovers a surprise three to five thousand years ago: 2 canids in human contexts on a tiny island in the middle of the Baltic Sea, that ate marine food—but had 100% gray wolf ancestry.

Where they tame wolves, or even an incipient domestication?

Det här. Och det är så otroligt uppenbart med.
Honestly, it's wild to watch the nutrition community continue to get behind a term like UPF (defined by looking at a ingredients and giving a 'bad' label by the presence of an 'industrial' additive) while this exact, scientifically hollow tactic is being rolled out to scare folks away from vaccines.
Ultra-processed foods – what’s the impact?

In a new Lancet Series, experts warn a global rise in #UPFs presents a growing public health threat.

The editors of Neurology have allowed the authors of this paper to make a "correction", stating: "there were errors in the CIs for some estimates presented in the article".

How many CIs must be wrong before a journal loses confidence in a paper?

(Answer: more than 73, apparently!)
Fun fact: it has been 56 days since I notified the editors of Neurology about glaring statistical errors in this peer-reviewed study on sweeteners and cognitive health.

No expression of concern, no correction, no retraction.
"Sweeteners can harm cognitive health equivalent to 1.6 years of ageing, study finds"

Or does it? Let's take a look at this "study"...

Economist Nicholas Apergis (h-index=90!) appears to have engaged in large-scale plagiarism.

Example: Jebli, Youssef, & Apergis (2019) self-plagiarises Apergis & Payne (2014), which in turn plagiarises Afonso & Rault (2010).

Substantial text overlap with no citation.
